A Shenandoah teacher with Pella roots has won a teaching award. Kevin Van Dyke is one of the award winners of the 2012 Charles E. Lekin Outstanding Teacher Award.

Van Dyke is a 4th Grade teacher at Shenandoah Community Schools. Kevin was born in Pella, attended Pella Community Schools, graduating from Pella High School in 2002. He credits his 3rd Grade teacher for inspiring him to become a teacher.
