Track and field squads from four of our local schools were in competition Tuesday night in a co-ed meet hosted by Pella Christian. Pella High dominated the girls meet with a staggering 250 points, taking first place in 13 of the mee’ts 19 events. The host Lady Eagles made some noise as well, though, finishing in 2nd place with 135 points. Jasmin Schelhaas had a noteworthy night for Pella Christian claiming gold in the 100, 200 and 400 Meter Dashes, and as the anchor leg of the winning 4×100 Meter Relay team. The Pleasantville girls game in 8th with 15 points, led by Augusta Sinclair’s 4th place finish in the high jump and fifth place finish in the 400 Meters.

On the boys’ side, PCM took second place in the team standing, trailing meet winner ADM by 17.5 points. Pella Christian’s boys were not far back, placing 4th with 75.5 points, and Pleasantville took 5th with 65 points. The Mustangs’ first place finishes came from Hunter Reed in the 110 Hurdles, Andrew McCarthy in the 400 Meter Dash, Jordan Van Roekel in the 400 Hurdles, Sam Munson in the Discus, and the 4×200 Meter Relay team. Host Pella Christian garnered medals in a number of events, led by Derek Van Kooten’s dual silvers in the Long Jump and High Jump; and Caleb Fredrickson’s second-place finish in the 400 Meter Dash. Pleasantville’s top performances were victories by Chris Peden in the 200 Meters, Hunter Van Haalen in the High Jump, and the Trojans’ Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team.
