A meet that featured mostly Little Hawkeye Conference girls track and field squads saw a pair of outliers take the first two spots, as the Pella High girls took third and Pella Christian finished fourth in a meet at Grinnell Tuesday evening. The Lady Dutch scored 108 points, 37 points in front of the Lady Eagles. Williamsburg won the team title with 129 points; just four in front of Southeast Polk.
Pella High put a lot of emphasis into dropping their times on relay teams, and it worked, as the Lady Dutch had four of their five golds come in relay events while recording top ten times in Class 3A in a total of three relays. Pella Christian looked strong in a number of events as well, garnering a pair of first place finishes and adding four runner-up performances as well. Both squads will compete against each other again at Thursday’s Tulip Time Relays; hosted by Pella High.
