Twin Cedars made a clean sweep of their home meet Tuesday night, with the girls and boys track and field squads each claiming the team titles of the Saber Relays. The girls meet saw Twin Cedars rack up 146 points; putting them 32 points in front of second-place Albia. Melcher-Dallas landed fourth place with 76 points. The boys’ meet was a duel between the Sabers and their nearby conference rivals – Melcher-Dallas. Twin Cedars scored 149 points, while the Saints were nipping at their heels with 135.

Highlights of the meet included four wins in the relay events for Twin Cedars – with Kassidy Swayne running on all four teams. The Saints’ strengths came in the longer running events, with the Melcher-Dallas girls picking up a win in the 4×800 Meter Relay and a pair of silvers in the Distance Medley Relay and from Delaney Jensen 1500 Meter Run. Jensen also took gold in the High Jump. The boys’ meet saw the Sabers and Saints seemingly turn a seven-team meet into a head-to-head match-up. Both squads each earned five golds apiece and stacked the scoring in a number of events.

All four teams will have another chance this week to put the finishing touches on their events before next week’s Bluegrass Conference meet.
