Spurred by seven first-place finishes, the Twin Cedars girls track and field team came away with the team title at Tuesday’s Melcher-Dallas Invitational. The host Saints finished in third place. On the boys’ side, Melcher-Dallas finished 30 points in front of Twin Cedars as the two squads locked up third and fourth places, respectively.

The Sabers’ sprinters and the Saints’ middle distance runners shared the spotlight in the girls’ competition. Gold medals for Twin Cedars came from Ayla Crosby in the 100 Meter Dash, Samantha Hamman in the 100 Hurdles, Brittany Roby in the 400 Hurdles and Madison Alger in the 800 Meter Run; along with winning times by the 4×100, 4×200 and Shuttle Hurdle Relays teams. For Melcher-Dallas, it was another big outing for Delaney Jensen, who claimed individual golds in the High Jump and 1500 Meter Runs, and also anchored the winning Distance Medley Relay team The Saints also earned gold in the 4×800 Meter Relay.

On the boys’ side, Melcher-Dallas’s Cody Alexander took first in the 800 Meter Run and placed second in the 400 Meter Dash. The Saints’ 4×400 and Distance Medley Relay teams also earned silver medals, as did Kenneth Wadle in the Long Jump. For Twin Cedars, their boys 4×200 Meter Relay team had the fastest time of the evening, while the 4×100, 4×800 and Shuttle Hurdle Relay teams all added second-place finishes.
