PCM continued their successful run through the boys golf season with a win last night in a triangular hosted by Woodward-Granger. The Mustangs shot a combined 154, well ahead of second-place Woodward-Granger’s 183. Madrid shot a 189 for third.

“It was another good win for us. The kids had to fight the wind again today and for most of them, it was a course they had never seen before,” said PCM boys head coach Michael Smith. “They really had to adjust their game to allow for the hard greens and once they did, we played pretty good.”

Leading the way for the PCM boys was medalist Hunter Van Veen, who carded a 35. Logan Van Veen took runner-up honors with a 39.

“Hunter is so much fun to watch. He drove the 366 yard par 4 with the help of the wind and rolled is his putt for an eagle 2. That hole set the table for the rest of his round,” added Smith. “Logan had another solid round too. He lost one tee shot out of bounds but in all played very well.”

Up next for the PCM boys golfers is a meet Thursday at Beaver Creek against 3A foes Dallas Center-Grimes and Pella High.

Individual Scores:
