With several eighth graders in the lineup playing their first ever high school sports event, the Knoxville Softball Squad opened up the 2012 season with a surprising come from behind 7-5 win over class 3A number 14 Albia last night. The Panthers fell behind three times only to come back and take the lead. Cheyenne Jones went 2/3 with two R-B-I, Jori Wallace also went 2/3. Pitcher Emily Wallace got the win going the distance scattering five hits and striking out six plus helping her own cause with two R-B-I. The Panthers begin 1-0 and will face another ranked team tonight, class 1A number three ranked Martensdale St. Mary’s.
