The Pella Christian girls tennis team will be well represented at tomorrow’s Class 1A Girls Individual State Tennis Tournament, as the Lady Eagles have not one, but BOTH doubles teams included in the field. Of course, to get to that point, the two had to face each other in the Regional Finals; and the no. 2 doubles team of Aubree Else and Kayla DeBruin got the better of the tandem of Megan Van Kooten and Paige Engbers. All four girls joined KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program to discuss what it took to get to this point and what they’re looking forward to in Waterloo.

For the first time since 2002, the Pella High boys soccer team has earned a spot in the State Tournament, and the Little Dutch are aiming to make the most of the opportunity. Led by senior captains Grant Barrick, Tukker Bogaard and Sam Davis, Pella has assembled a 17-2-1 overall record and will open up the tournament against Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji tomorrow afternoon. KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall talked with the captains after practice in an interview featured in this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program to ask what it took to get to this point, how they’ve improved along the way, and why this team has what it takes to be a State Champion.
