In a rematch of one of only two losses this season for the Pella High boys soccer team, the Little Dutch fended off a resilient Dallas Center-Grimes squad to avenge a 3-2 early season setback – and earn a trip to the State Tournament – with a 4-2 Substate Final victory.
Pella snatched an early lead, as Tukker Bogaard scored on a misplayed ball by the Mustangs’ keeper, and set the tone very early. Up 2-0 at the half, the Little Dutch allowed Dallas Center-Grimes to tie the match at two apiece, before the Pella again scored a pair of goals to put away a 4-2 win.
The victory gives the Pella High boys soccer team a 17-2-1 overall record and a berth in their first State Tournament in over 7 years.
Stats:
Tukker Bogaard – 1″
Pauly Apostolopoulos – 39″
Brennan Mejia – 65″
Seth Johnson – 66″ (Apostolopoulos)
