Knoxville showed plenty of fight, but it wasn’t enough to come away with a victory, as the Pella High girls tennis team defeated the Panthers 7-4 Thursday night in Pella. The Panthers were stronger at the top of their line-up, with Emily Lee squeaking past Jessie Ryals at No. 1 singles, then teaming up with Kassie Griggs to win in straight sets at No. 1 doubles.

Despite the Panthers’ efforts, the Lady Dutch were a little deeper in the middle of the line-up, earning four wins in singles play and adding three more wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 5 doubles. Both squads now gear up for the Little Hawkeye Conference meet, which will be hosted by Pella High on Monday.
