A first-ever meeting between the Pella Christian and Perry soccer teams proved to be a defensive showcase, with Perry sneaking away from Pella with a 1-0 overtime victory. The Bluejays scored the sudden-goal victory four minutes and 46 seconds into the first overtime period.

Despite the loss, holding Perry’s high-scoring offense in check was a commendable accomplishment, as was evident by the 42 defensive stops recorded by Shelby Sytsma. Goalkeeper Jenna Roose added two impressive saves in the set back, which drops the Pella Christian girls to 4-8 overall. Still, the Lady Eagles have allowed just 12 goals in their last 10 games. They’ll host Carlisle Thursday night.
