Records Fall as PCM Boys Take Third at Newton Track Meet

The PCM boys track and field team found themselves right in the thick of the title hunt in Newton Thursday evening, coming away with a third-place finish at the Cardinal Relays. The Mustangs scored 108 points, only two behind CMB; while host Newton took the team title with 124 points.

A number of personal bests highlighted the night for the PCM boys, namely those by Jordan Van Roekel, who set a new school record in the 400 Meter Dash; finishing in a winning time 50.22 seconds. Van Roekel also ran on the winning 4×100 Meter Relay team that also featured Sean O’Conner, Andrew McCarthy and Hutch Burns. That squad cruised to a 44.35 time, setting a new Cardinal Relays record.

The Mustangs also landed gold with the team of Jake Van Wyk, Hunter Reed, Ethan Kain and Jesse McAtee in the 4×800 Meter Relay. Up next for the PCM boys will be the ultra-competitive Heart of Iowa Conference Meet, which will be held Monday in Monroe.
