With cousins Hunter and Logan Van Veen again leading the way, the PCM boys golf team topped South Hamilton once more, and landed a spot in the Class 2A Boys State Golf Tournament in the process. The Mustangs carded a combined score of 327 at the Lake Panorama Golf Course Thursday, eight strokes better than their in-conference rivals. The Pella Christian boys finished just outside in third place with a 361.
Hunter Van Veen again earned medalist honors, but he had to win a playoff over teammate Logan Van Veen to do it, as both finished their 18-hole round with matching 79s on the scorecard. Pella Christian was led by an 88 from Mason Howerzyl. The season ends for the Eagles, while the No. 2-ranked PCM boys advance to next weeks Class 2A Boys State Golf Meet at the Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore.
