Heavy winds marked the start of Tulip Time today. With gusts up to 43 miles per hour, tree limbs broke and were scattered around town. A tree snapped in the Molengracht and damaged one of the craft tents nearby. Other tents were blown into the canal. The flag hanging from the Tulip Toren caught some of the wind and a rope holding it in place broke as well. KNIA/KRLS is the one to count on during severe weather.
