Already one of the most decorated track and field athletes in Central College history, senior Ethan Miller added another accolade to his resume Friday after winning his second consecutive national title in the decathlon. Miller scored 7,017 points to claim the top spot on the podium. It’s his third overall national title in addition to his 2011 decathlon title and indoor high jump title. The Dutch are now recipients of 13 men’s individual track and field national titles and it’s Central’s 29th overall individual title.

Meanwhile, freshman teammate Eric Larson recorded a surprising fifth-place finish to earn his second all-America plaque of his career. Larson also finished eighth in the NCAA Division III indoor heptathlon in March. The Dutch men racked up 14 points in the decathlon and are currently sitting in fifth place overall. Wisconsin-Stout is the team leader after two days with 28 points.

Senior Morgan Darrow started her national meet with a bang, capturing fifth place in the hammer throw with an effort of 175-1 to earn her first all-American plaque in a Central uniform. Darrow was also an all-American while competing for Buena Vista in 2010. The Dutch will conclude their 2012 season today with a pair of relays and two representatives in the shot put.
