The combination of Joel Wiggins’ prowess on the pitcher’s mound and Dalton Spears presence at the plate propelled the PCM baseball team to a 6-0 win Friday night over Colfax-Mingo. Wiggins gave up just two hits to the Tigerhawks, pitching all seven innings and striking out 11 batters. His strong outing was backed up by a number of teammates at the plate, namely Spears, who went 3-for-3, slugging two doubles, batting home two runs and scoring once.

Hutch Burns and Bryce Wignall were also key in putting runs on the board for the Mustangs, as each player went 2-for-3 with an RBI and stole two bases. Burns crossed the plate twice, while Wignall had one run. The PCM baseball team is now 5-1 overall and 4-0 against the Heart of Iowa Conference. They compete again today in a tournament hosted by Lynnville-Sully.
