Pella High erupted for 11 combined runs in the second and third innings on their way to a 15-5 five inning win on Senior night over cross town rival Pella Christian last night. Each team plated two runs in the first inning, but Pella caught fire with two outs in the bottom of the second inning, scoring four runs. The Little Dutch then added seven more runs in the third inning – including a three run homerun to left field off the bat of Senior Paul Anderson – who finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, homerun and 4 RBIs.

The Little Dutch attack produced 10 hits, five of which went for extra bases. Pella Christian fought back in the top of the fifth inning scoring a couple runs, but a sliding catch in foul territory by Pella’s Paul Anderson ended the game with the bases full of Eagles. Offensively Pella Christian belted out six hits. Defensively, however, it was a struggle as they used four pitchers and committed nine errors.

Jacob DeWaard went the distance to get the win for Pella while Will VandeVoort suffered the loss for the Eagles. Pella travels to Saydel tonight while Pella Christian gets a night off before heading to Norwalk Friday.
