Chris Coffman, a 1996 Central College graduate, has been named to the Iowa High School Athletic Association Football Hall of Fame.

The former tight end for the Dutch was an all-state rusher and defensive player in high school at Sigourney and Sigourney-Keota. He racked up over 5,000 rushing yards, 74 touchdowns and 490 points in his prep career, placing in the top three of each category in Class 2A when he graduated. Coffman is the first player from his school to be recognized.

At Central, the three-year letterwinner helped the Dutch capture two Iowa Conference championships and post a 28-3 overall record, losing just one regular season game. Now a head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Grinnell High School, Coffman will be honored with five other former football players at halftime of the Class 4A Championship game in November.
