The Knoxville Baseball Squad not only made things interesting in the seventh inning last night…the Panthers put a real scare into the Chargers falling 11-9. Down 11-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, Knoxville scored seven runs and had the winning run at the plate when Chariton recorded a double play which nearly was a game ending triple play. Knoxville started the rally when Jake Kendall singled and it seemed as if the Panthers’ bats all of a sudden came to life after collecting three hits the first six innings. Freshman Jared McClung brought the crowd to their feet with a two R-B-I single, that was followed by another freshman Kaden Loscher who drilled an R-B-I single and not to be outdone senior Lane Colwell singled home a run to make it 11-8. Coach Joel Johnson said he saw a few of his younger players grow up in that seventh inning. Justin Katich was tagged with the loss going five innings and allowing nine runs on 11 hits, four walks, and five strikeouts. Knoxville drops to 4-12 on the season and will host Bondurant-Farrar tonight.
