The Pella High softball team improved their overall record to 16-10 with Tuesday night’s 4-1 win at North Mahaska. The effort by the Lady Dutch gave the Warhawks just their fifth loss of the season, and has the team riding a two-game win streak into tonight’s contest with rival Pella Christian.

Pella High first baseman Molly Lanke says despite a season loaded with come-from-behind wins, the team wants to be focused and get a quick start on the Lady Eagles.

“We need to come out with the same energy we had last time, because I know that kept everybody up,” said Lanke. “Another thing, we need to get our bats going early. I know none of us really want to [have to] make another comeback, and [we need] to just get it started early and keep it up the whole game.”

Pella High claimed a 7-1 win at Pella Christian earlier this season and is going for the season sweep against a Lady Eagles squad that is 6-19 overall and 3-6 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Tonight’s game will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall and David Greving providing the play-by-play. Coverage from Pella High begins at approximately 7:30 p.m.
