The Pella Christian softball team got over the hump Friday night, earning their first win of the season in a 16-5 rout of Grinnell. The Lady Eagles jumped out to a sizeable lead early, and though the Tigers were able to hang around in the later innings, the game was still finished after six frames.

Sami Veenstra and India Sarver each went 3-for-5 at the plate for Pella Christian, with Veenstra scoring 3 runs. Lauren Jungling crossed the plate 4 times for the Lady Eagles, as she was 2-for-5 hitting. In the circle, Shannon Fynaardt pitched all six innings, allowing 6 hits and 5 walks, while striking out 7 Grinnell batters.

The Pella Christian softball team is now 1-5 on the season and will play in a tournament today at Oskaloosa against Belle Plaine and Cardinal of Eldon.
