Jory Wallace’s two-out two R-B-I double broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth and allowed Knoxville to take the lead and eventually beat Chariton last night in softball 5-2. The Chargers pitching staff limited the Panthers to just three hits in the first six innings and scoring off a double in the second and a triple in the fifth. However Knoxville was able to tie the game in the sixth when Emily Lee and Taylor Carter got on with back-to-back singles, Haley Worrall brought home Lee, and Carter tied it on a delayed steal of home when Worrall was caught stealing at the same time at second. That set the stage for Wallace getting the two across to give Knoxville the lead. Four of the five runs in the sixth for Knoxville were with two outs and five of the six hits were singles. Wallace’s younger sister Emily was again steady in the circle going the distance scattering seven hits on just one walk and a key inning-ending strikeout in the sixth. Knoxville is now 8-15 on the season and will travel to Norwalk tonight.
