Lightbulb Starting to Turn on for Young Pleasantville Softball Team

After a well-deserved day away from competition, the Pleasantville softball team returns to the diamond this evening to host Corning. Through 18 games, the Trojans have 6 wins, but the team continues to gain valuable experience each night on the field. Pleasantville head coach Robert Friday says several parts of the game are starting to make sense to his younger players.

“I think things are clicking. It’s one of those things – it’s a maturation process that we didn’t really have early in the year. We’re going from girls that were used to playing junior high [softball] to girls that are playing in high school now,” said Friday.

“The biggest difference is the speed of the game from the two different levels; and the quality of pitching. I think now people are becoming more comfortable, and that’s the biggest thing for me is seeing that comfort level now where people are really coming into themselves.”

The Trojans will certainly have their hands full with the Red Raiders, though, as Corning enters tonight’s contest with a 12-5 overall record.
