Nine errors is simply too much of an advantage to give a good team, and it cost the Pella Christian softball squad Thursday night in a 15-8 loss at Lynnville-Sully. In addition to the miscues in the field, it was a tough night for Lady Eagles’ pitcher Shannon Fynaardt, who was roughed up for 10 runs in just three innings of work. Fynaardt allowed only four hits, but walked five Lynnville-Sully batters.

Things did not go much better for Taylor Hartson, who gave up five runs on six hits in the remaining three innings of work. Offense was clearly not the problem for Pella Christian, as four players recorded two or more hits; led by Tessa Howerzyl’s 3-for-4 performance that included a run scored and a stolen base. The loss drops the Pella Christian softball team to 3-9 overall.
