The enjoyable ride all the way to the Class 1A Girls Individual State Tennis Tournament ended early for the doubles teams from Pella Christian High School, as both tandems were defeated in their opening two matches.

District champions Aubree Else and Kayla DeBruin opened their day indoors because of rain, falling 6-0/7-5 to a team from Camanche. That landed them in the consolation round, where they fell 6-1/6-2 to Dubuque Wahlert in a match that was moved back outdoors, and interrupted again by rain. District runners-up Megan Van Kooten and Paige Engbers were unfortunately unable to fare much better, dropping their opening match 6-0/6-2 to a duo from Decorah, before being eliminated in a 6-1/6-2 loss to Clarke.

Of the four girls from Pella Christian that qualified for the Class 1A Girls Individual State Tennis Tournament, only Engbers will return next spring.
