Behind seven innings of mistake-free pitching by Bri Arkema, the Pella High softball team tallied a 7-1 victory over Pella Christian Monday night in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Arkema allowed just five hits and gave up no walks, while striking out three hitters. Backing up her performance at the plate was Allie DeMeulenaere, who went 3-for-4 with a stolen base; with Lindsey Mueller and Morgan Ernst each going 2-for-4. Ernst had a double and 5 RBI for the Lady Dutch.

Pella Christian’s Shannon Fynaardt took the loss, but stuck out six batters on the night. Paige Engbers led the Lady Eagles’ offense, going 1-for-2 with a double. Jenna Roose also added a double on the night, as she and Lauren Jungling and Sami Veenstra each went 1-for-3. The win puts Pella High at 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, while the Pella Christian softball team dips to 4-10 overall and 2-3 against league opponents.
