Jacob Dewaard’s five hit shutout helped the Pella Baseball Squad beat Knoxville last night 5-0. Dewaard limited Knoxville all game long and even when he got into trouble, with runners on second and third, he was able to get out of the inning. Something that Pella Coach Al Vasher was very pleased with. In the other dugout, it was a game of missed opportunities. Knoxville twice had two runners in scoring position and could not advance them. The Panthers also had a runner thrown out at home. Several missed opportunities had Knoxville Coach Joel Johnson disappointed in the outcome. Dewaard went the distance allowing no runs on five hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Bryce Zoutte took the loss for the Panthers pitching four innings giving up four runs on six hits, two walks and no strikeouts. Lane Colwell pitched the final two innings of relief. Pella improves to 10-7 on the season and 5-3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference while Knoxville is now 4-11 on the season and 2-6 on the conference.
