Excellent pitching by starters Schyler Kane and Jacob Gleason helped the Pella High baseball team forge a split Monday night in Grinnell; 0-1, 5-0.

Kane allowed just three hits in the opener and did not walk a single Tigers batter, but it was just as hard for the Little Dutch to hit safely; as they were held to just three hits as well in the 1-0 loss.

In the nightcap, Gleason was nearly untouchable, striking out 12 Grinnell batters, while giving up just one walk and five hits in seven innings of work to get the 5-0 shutout win.  This time the Little Dutch had some offensive support, as Paul Anderson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Brett Kingery added an RBI as well on a 2-for-3 night at the plate.

The split against the Tigers puts the Pella High baseball team at 13-12 overall and 8-7 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
