Sedlock Shuts Down Montezuma in Twin Cedars Victory

Freshman Mackenzie Sedlock had another strong outing in the pitching circle for the Twin Cedars softball team on Thursday night, helping the Sabers take a 5-0 win at Montezuma. Sedlock’s shutout victory included giving up just four hits and two walks, while notching a strikeout against the Braves. She also got plenty of support from the Sabers’ bats, as teammates Kassidy Swayne, Bailey Stone and Brooke Dunkin each had a pair of hits as part of an 11-hit night for Twin Cedars.

Sabers’ head coach Zack Dunkin says Brooke continues to be a strong hitter, as well as perhaps an undervalued player on defense.

“Brooke, she’s a slapper, a lead-off hitter who also does a lot of the catching. She has a good arm and is good on the bases,” said Coach Dunkin. “I think she’s done a good job of helping try to work some of our younger pitchers threw, and keeping them in the ballgames – and then also doing a good job of getting on base.”

The non-conference victory puts the Twin Cedars softball team at 19-14 overall entering tonight’s Bluegrass Conference home game against Seymour.
