Dozens of high school and junior high girls are in Pella this week for Central College’s annual Championship Softball Camp.
Many camps have become game-only tournament-style camps that lack instruction and information, and Dutch head coach George Wares says that’s one thing that makes this one unique. While the on-field activity is important for campers, he says that they’re getting just as much from off-the-field activities.
Wares says that it’s an intense week of softball, and they really challenge the girls in many different facets. He says that it gives them a taste of what collegiate softball is about, and helps many girls decide whether it’s really what they’re looking for.
