Today is the final day of practice and preparation for the PCM baseball team, as the Mustangs are on the eve of their Class 2A District Final match-up with Interstate-35.  PCM enters Saturday’s game off of a 6-5 win over rival Pella Christian – something head coach Shawn Hudnut says likely did wonders for the confidence of his guys.

“The win was huge for the confidence level, because we struggled for the last two weeks of the season.  Just getting that win – and getting back in the win column – and making the plays when we needed to; because that’s where we kind of faltered,” said Hudnut.

“We’ve been in position throughout that whole two week stretch, and it was just a matter of when we needed to make the plays – whether they were on offense, defense, or on the mound – we just didn’t come up with them.  It was good to see that happen [on Tuesday].”

Prior to the District Semifinals, PCM had sputtered to a 2-8 finish over their final ten games of the regular season.  Still, the Mustangs are 20-10 and taking on an Interstate-35 squad that is 20-7 and was one of the best in the potent Pride of Iowa Conference this season.

The Mustangs and Roadrunners will take to the field at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night at Pella Christian High School in a game that will be streamed live at kniakrls.com.
