Pella Christian’s seniors came up big at the plate, while a sophomore performed well on the mound to combine for a 4-1 Eagles’ victory Tuesday night over Newton.

Spencer Fynaardt, a junior, led the Pella Christian offense; going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.  Meanwhile, seniors Will VandeVoort and Jordan Rossler were each 2-for-3, and Dan Hessing was 1-for-3 at the dish for the Eagles.  VandeVoort also collected a pair of doubles – while adding a run and an RBI – and Rossler and Hessing each plated as well, with Hessing slapping a two-bagger and an RBI as well.

All of the hits backed up Andrew Vander Hart, who allowed no earned runs and no walks while striking out seven Newton batters.  The win snaps a losing skid for the Pella Christian baseball team, and puts them at 10-22 overall and at 5-13 to finish the Little Hawkeye Conference.

The Eagles take on PCM on Thursday in a preview of a possible District Tournament match-up.
