Often times success in sports is measured by wins and losses, and sometimes it’s measured by the growth of a team as the season progresses. This year’s Melcher-Dallas softball team found success by either definition.

“After last year – losing the four seniors that we lost…that was quite a hit, and I think a lot of people thought we would not be very good this year,” said Saints’ head coach Jim Crozier.

“I think we accomplished some goals we wanted to. We definitely thought as the season went on we were better than what we had planned on being; and there were some bumps in the road that we still think we could have won twenty games this year – and that’s always a goal for us.”

The Saints bested both the overall and conference records from the previous season, winning two more games overall to go 16-17 and one more win in the Bluegrass Conference – where they finished 10-4 and in third place in the league standings.
