The Melcher-Dallas softball team began this past season needing to fill the void left by four very experienced seniors from the previous year. Enter Morgan Mitchell. Saints’ head coach Jim Crozier said Mitchell did all of the things he could hope to see from a senior leader.

“Morgan has started for us since she was a freshman. [She] started out at first base – we moved her to catcher two years ago when we lost our catcher – and she’s just one that will work, and work, and work,” said Crozier.

“In the offseason she’ll do some hitting; she’ll have somebody come throw to her; [and] she’s been in the gym catching all winter long for our pitchers the past two years. She will work hard to get where she needs to be.”

Mitchell played her final season in Melcher-Dallas colors along with fellow seniors Amanda Marlin and Sydney Wilson. The trio helped guide the Saints to a 16-17 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the Bluegrass Conference – both of which bettered marks from the previous season.
