Des Moines Christian’s firepower was too much for the Pella Christian baseball team to keep pace with Monday night in Des Moines, as the Eagles were defeated 10-0 in five innings.
The Lions roughed up starting pitcher Dillon Branderhorst in the bottom of the third frame, scoring seven runs on six hits and grabbing a stranglehold on the game. Branderhorst would finish with no walks and two strikeouts in 2 ⅓ innings of work.
At the plate, no Pella Christian batter had multiple hits; as Jordan Rossler, Dan Hessing, Will VandeVoort and Josh VanGorp accounted for the Eagles’ four hits on the evening. The loss drops the Pella Christian baseball team to 9-22 overall, entering tonight’s regular season finale against Newton.
