The Pella High baseball team gave Chariton all they could handle Thursday night, but the Chargers prevailed in the final inning for a 7-6 win.

The Little Dutch put themselves at a disadvantage early, spotting Chariton a 6-1 lead entering the sixth inning.  Pella put up three runs in that frame, followed by two more scores in the seventh inning to tie the game at 6-6, but the Chargers plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the inning to hang on for the win.

Jacob DeWaard started on the mound for the Little Dutch, but it was Brett Kingery who was saddled with the loss.  At the plate, Ryan Shull was 3-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base; while teammate Schyler Kane went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base as well to lead the Pella offense.

The Little Dutch are 16-15 overall and will return to their home field tonight for a contest with Fairfield.
