Pella High’s postseason begins tonight, as the Lady Dutch make the short trek to Oskaloosa to face the rival Indians in the Class 4A Regional Softball Tournament. Oskaloosa swept both games of the Little Hawkeye Conference series by scores of 9-0 and 3-2; helping them to finish the season one game ahead of the Pella in the league standings.

Sophomore Lexi McGinley says she and her teammates are well-aware of the Indians’ strengths, but the team’s play throughout the season has proven that they will not be an easy out.

“They have big hitters. We’ve seen that, and they can take one pitch and just send it; so we have to know not to get down on ourselves and to keep coming back,” said McGinley. “I think that’s what we do well as a team – we don’t give up, we never say die. I think that’s one thing the Indians will have to watch out for in us – we’re not afraid to go seven or eight innings, and we won’t quit until we’re on top.”

The Pella High softball team enters the tournament with a 19-10 overall record and five-game win streak, while Oskaloosa finished the regular season at 22-12. Tonight’s game will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Jamie Brockman and David Greving providing the play-by-play. The first pitch from Oskaloosa is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
