The Pleasantville baseball team continues their postseason tour of South Iowa Cedar Conference teams tonight, as they’ll take on the league’s number one team – the BGM Bears – in a Class 1A District Final match-up. The Trojans have reached this point by defeating Lynnville-Sully 7-4 in nine innings; then rallying for a 3-2 come-from-behind win over North Mahaska on Thursday.

Pleasantville was limited to just five hits in their most recent win, and head coach Sheldon Card says his squad will need a better effort with the bats tonight, along with continued strong play in other areas.

“We’ve got to hit the ball better. We can’t keep hitting fly balls and pop-ups. We’ve got to go line drives, ground balls, and get back to our offensive strategy where we can move guys around,” said Card. “We’ll keep working on that, and we’ve got to have pitching and defense like we’ve had and we’ll be fine.”

BGM is 25-3 overall, following Thursday’s 3-1 win over Iowa Valley; while Pleasantville carries a 23-9 mark into tonight’s District Final in Montezuma. The first pitch between the Trojans and Bears is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
