According to the newest USDA Drought Moniter, Marion County remains under a severe drought. The entire state of Iowa is now listed in a severe drought as well. Parts of the eastern half of the state are even designated as suffering through an extreme drought. Dale Miller, with the Extension Office, says that any rain we receive is almost too late by this point to be useful for the crops.

Miller adds that any producer that may have missed this week’s drought information webinar can see the two-hour session on demand at the Iowa State Extension website.
