While the Knoxville Baseball Squad has not had the kind of season the program is used to in 2012, the reputation is still with the Panthers. Case in point last weekend at Mount Pleasant. Mount Pleasant had just played a varsity double header against a conference opponent the night before and lost both games by not throwing the top two pitchers. In comes Knoxville and Mount Pleasant throws its top two pitchers against the Panthers. Knoxville Coach Joel Johnson says it is still a bit unbelievable that wearing Knoxville across your baseball jersey still carries that much weight. Johnson added he had a few other schools in eastern Iowa call him before the season wanting to schedule a game or a varsity double header. He wants to make a trip like last week an annual thing for the program. Knoxville will play Chariton tomorrow night to open the class 3A District.
