The Pleasantville football team has entered this week eager to get back to work and gunning for their first victory of the season. Despite a 36-15 loss last Friday night to an Eddyville-Blakesburg team that pulled away late in the game, the Trojans displayed a lot of resiliency; and new head coach Gabe Bakker says that gave his squad some positives to build upon.

“We fought until the very end with a lot of adversity. We had turnovers; we had guys injured; we had guys playing different spots out of necessity – and I think that was a positive,” said Bakker. “What we can learn from that is just the speed of the game. Most teams make the most improvement from the first to second game, and that’s what we’re going to try to do.”

Pleasantville is at home for this week’s non-district match-up, as they’ll host Pride of Iowa Conference rival Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Friday night.
