For the second straight year Kyle Larson left Oskaloosa $15,000 richer.

Larson successfully defended last years title by driving to victory lane again in the USAC Ultimate Challenge non wing race at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa last night. Larson, who had already secured himself of a spot in the feature with his win Monday night, finished seventh in the dash, then in the 30 lap A Main, drove the Hoffman #69 from seventh to the lead passing Justin Grant on lap eight. Larson then held off a late race charge from Dave Darland for the win. Grant, Chris Windom, and Jerry Coons Jr rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Windom, Damian Gardner and Grant while Grant also claimed the dash victory. With the win, Larson becomes the only two time winner in the race’s 11 year history and is still unbeaten behind the wheel of the 69 car.

The winged 305 sprint cars also joined the show for the first time ever and Mike Van Haaften got the win, his fourth this season, leading all 12 laps. Casey Friedrichsen, Knoxville points leader Matthew Stelzer, Alan Ambers and Billy Boles rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Ambers, Derrik Lusk and Mark Widmar.

Racing action shifts back to the Knoxville Raceway for night one of the 52nd annual Good Year Knoxville Nationals tonight. A loaded field featuring the best drivers in the world will try to earn their way into Saturday night’s $150,000 to win A Main.
