One of the first on-field decisions that faces the Central College football team this fall is the selection of a quarterback. Three-year starter Nate Snead has graduated, leaving the Dutch with an opening at the game’s most critical position. Coach Jeff McMartin says that the style of offense is dictated by the abilities of the quarterback, and they need to pick their guy very early on in camp.

Senior Jack Flaherty was the backup last season, but he saw very little action other than late game situations. Pella native Blaine Forsythe is the only other returner with quarterback experience at Central, but it’s just as limited as Flaherty’s. McMartin says that as many as five players will be competing for the position, including some newcomers that he’s excited about.
