The debut match of the season for the Pella Christian volleyball team had a promising start, but ultimately Johnston was too much for the Lady Eagles – winning in a three-game sweep.  Pella Christian pushed the Dragons to the brink in the opener – falling 27-25 – and couldn’t climb back in against the 5A squad.  The next two sets favored Johnston 25-15 and 25-14.  Lauren Jungling and Daphne Yarkosky dished out four assists apiece, and Maddie Fopma led the team with five kills.  Defensively, Fopma added a block and Jora Vanderhart had a team-high eight digs.  The Pella Christian volleyball team plays again Saturday in a tournament at Ames.
