A familiar early-season opponent is back on the schedule this fall for the Pella High football team, as the Little Dutch are spending this week preparing to face Washington. Head coach Jay McKinstrey says there’s been a lot of history with the Demons.
“We had played them for like 15 years in a row, and then the last two years we were in districts that went the other way and we had opportunities to play Newton and Knoxville in non-district games – which we thought would be better match-ups for us,” said McKinstrey. “We haven’t seen them for the past two years, but it’s great to see them back [on our schedule]. They’ve always been a great game for us.”
It’s the first home game of the season for Pella High this Friday night, and a food drive will be taking place prior to the game. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will be there as well, playing music and collecting non-perishable items up until kickoff.
