The Knoxville City Council authorized city staff to explore options in expanding the Knoxville Recreation Center during a special session this week. Rec Center Director Brandon Nemmers said he has approximately $56,000 leftover from the grounds project this year.

He explained to the council that the first step would be a study to look at future usage of the Rec Center and what services may need to be expanded. The Council also expressed their desire to possibly build a large splash park on the Rec Center grounds, as well as using some of the bonded parks and recreation money to continue to upgrade Auld Park and finding ways to secure it from vandalism.
