A number of new pieces are being put into place right now for the Pella High volleyball team, as the Lady Dutch slide new players into new roles; under the leadership of a mostly new coaching staff.  With last week’s camp at Central College providing an early glimpse at what her team is capable of, Pella High head coach Catie Brand says she expects the team’s defense to lead the way early on.

“I think we’ll put up a really strong blocking presence.  We’ll continue to work on our timing, [and] we’ve got some height.  They really like to get after it in the frontcourt, which we like,” said Brand.  

“Our backcourt – we return our starting libero from last year, as well as some other backcourt players – so I think they’ll do a good job picking up balls and then moving it into our offense.  As our setters and hitters continue to develop, I think we’ll really become an offensive threat.”

The Pella High volleyball team is looking to build upon the experience gained by some of the younger players a season ago; when the Lady Dutch went 10-25.
