Last year’s Pella High volleyball team certainly experienced some growing pains, but out of that process has emerged a more confident and seasoned squad that is anxious to begin competition for the fall schedule. Lady Dutch head coach Catie Brand says her team features a balanced mix of sophomores, juniors and seniors.

“We had a lot of sophomores last year that got varsity time. They were very young and inexperienced, and they grew a lot during the season; and now that they’re juniors they’ve kind of picked up with that momentum and continued to build,” said Brand.

“We’ve got some nice seniors that will go right with that – they complement and kind of fill some of the holes from last year’s senior class – and then we’ve got a couple sophomores that I think will see some time as well because of their height and athleticism.”

The Pella High volleyball team is looking forward to their first competition of the season, which sends them to an invitational at Bondurant-Farrar on Saturday.
