For more than 80 minutes, the Central College women’s soccer team was dominant everywhere but the scoreboard. But a late three-goal flurry gave the Dutch a little extra cushion in a 4-0 triumph over Westminster College Friday.

Central peppered the Blue Jay defense, racking up a 41-1 shot advantage. But the Dutch didn’t find the net until the 43rd minute. While the ball remained pinned in the Westminster end of the field most of the way, the Dutch didn’t score again for another 41 minutes. It was a quiet afternoon for Dutch goalkeeper Steph Hasken, who needed just one save to post her third shutout of the year.

The win improves the Central College women’s soccer team to 4-2 on the year, as they come right back with a game at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska today. Last year Central defeated the Flames for the first time in three tries, getting a 3-1 victory at Pella. It’s the middle of a stretch which sees Central play five games in nine days to wrap up the pre-Iowa Conference schedule.
