As the Melcher-Dallas football team reaches the midway point of the regular season this Friday night, the Saints are looking to chart the progress they’ve made to this point.

Melcher-Dallas head football coach Ryan Conrad says one area he thought was very important that came out of last week’s 76-0 win over Moravia was the team’s improvement on defense. Conrad said the Mohawks had been a team that could certainly move the ball and score points and for his team to record the shutout could be a pivotal point in the season for his squad.

“We had everybody on the team get in on defense, and we still didn’t allow a point – so that’s something we’re proud of; the goose egg we were able to put on the board,” said Conrad. “I thought we turned the corner defensively as far as wrapping up, not allowing missed tackles and really finishing tackles to the ground. I thought we did a great job defensively, so I feel like we’re continuing to improve in a lot of ways.”

Melcher Dallas is 4-0 overall and off to a 3-0 start in Eight-Man District 5. Friday night they’ll host Tri-County for Homecoming.
